We are DIYers who have already remodeled one bathroom successfully, but this is our first time using The Schluter shower system. We installed cement board on the walls, and today when we attempted to apply the Kerdi membrane we could not get it to adhere. We think it is the cement board (Durock) sucking the moisture out of the unmodified thinset. We tried soaking the cement board and applying the kerdi in small sections. We tried adding water to the thinset, we tried using a larger notch trowel, but nothing seems to make the Kerdi stick.
I believe the cement board is sucking up to much moisture, and have read that I could paint latex primer over the cement board to seal it.
I guess my questions are, am I right is it the thinset drying out to fast that is the problem, or is it something else? And would latex primer help?
The thinset is mapei unmodified thinset, is that our problem?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I would like to redo a shower from the ground up and want to use a foam backer board but they are pretty expensive. There are a growing number of manufacturers that offer foam backer boards – kerdi, wedi, usg, laticrete, nobal, finpan, jm goboard etc. Chord ungu religi. Geometry dash real game.
